A female driver was nearly crushed by a falling tree during the
catastrophic storm Irma. The heart-stopping moment was caught on video
and has been shared online.
In the video captured on Monday in Spalding County, Georgia, US, a
car is seen driving down a lonely road as rain falls heavily. Without
warning, a pine tree fell, crashing down in the middle of the road just
as the white-coloured Lexus gets to that point and it sends the Lexus
into the air briefly before the driver expertly slammed the brakes.Michael Head said: "I was coming from downtown Griffin and was heading home, and I had been following the car for a while - She (the driver of the Lexus) slammed on the brakes. Thank God she saw it in time. She was shaken, but OK - I think she was more scared about the fraction of a second of what could have happened. If she had been looking at the radio or on her phone, it would have been a different story."
Mr Head said he called 911 and the woman's husband and waited with her until police arrived.
