Traditional Ruler and his palace guard kidnapped by gunmen in Kaduna

Barely 24 hours after a traditional ruler and his pregnant wife were assassinated by yet to be identified gunmen in Sanga Local Government Area of the state, the paramount ruler of Ikulu Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, His Royal Highness, Yohanna Kukah, was last night at about 9pm whisked away from his palace by unknown gunmen.

Confirming the abduction, the state's police command spokesperson, Mukhtar Aliyu, said the gunmen stormed the palace of the monarch at about 9:00 pm on Tuesday and forcefully took him away along with his palace guard.

The police spokesperson added that investigations into the incident has already started. He called on residents of the state to remain calm as the command is working to ensure that such unfortunate incidents do not happen again.

The traditional ruler is said to be a younger brother of the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Mathew Kukah.
