Photos: Son of NSCDC officer arrested by police on his way to work in Edo

Human rights activist,  Kola Edokpayi and his team have secured the release of a young man, who was arrested by the Edo State Command  Anti Robbery Squad, CID and tagged as armed robber. His post below:

"We were able to secure the release of my neighbour's son free who was arrested on his way to his place of  work at Aduwawa by men of Edo State Command  Anti Robbery Squad, CID and tagged him  armed robber.

They forced some  suspected armed robbers and murderers  in their custody to indict my neighbour's son but they insisted that they don't know him.

One expected the Police to allow the young man to go but they kept him in their cell.

All effort for his father who is an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to release him proved abortive as the IPO's heart was hardened like Pharaoh Ramses.

The father of the young man briefed me what transpired, I led a delegation to the Commissioner of Police, CP Johnson Babatunde Kokumo to draw his attention to what ARS did, he immediately followed us to the cell and called the suspected armed robbers and the boy out for interrogation, the suspected armed robbers said they don't know my neighbour's son and the Commissioner of Police ordered for his release immediately and told his officers who were with him that he cannot stomach a situation whereby innocent persons are arrested by the police.

Kudos to the new CP who has zero tolerance for corruption and human rights violation.
We shall continue to do our best to ensure that the rights of the poor are not trampled upon.
Uhuru is achievable.
