A Rivers state-based man, Tima Numbere, lost his life over the weekend at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital allegedly due to power failure. Tima was attacked by armed robbers in the city on October 23rd and was inflicted with serious injuries. The robbers used their gun to hit him on the head after carting away with his phones and money.  He suffered a blood clot in his head and had been in coma. On Saturday, November 11th, he died after the hospital allegedly could not power their generator for the life support machine he had been on. Read an account by his friend, Comrade Phils, below...
"I am so saddened this night. I have just reported my findings about the Ogoni Killings by SARS officers but that was nothing compared to what I am about to talk about.
A friend on Facebook, Tima Numbere was attacked by armed robbers at Dline, PHC. He was beaten and the criminals hit his head with a gun and made away with all his belongings.
He died yesterday but the sad truth is that it was not the armed robbers that killed Tima. Just like that of Mr Scanner, It was our poor health system and lack of effective power supply that killed him.
He had fainted after the incident, went into coma and was diagnosed of blood clotting in the head. He was admitted at UPTH and was on life support.
He eventually died when there was power failure and the hospital could not change over to generator on time.
He escaped death in the hands of armed robbers but our own government killed him. The laxity of our health system killed another fellow, just like scanner, who successfully escaped death by gun in the hands of armed robbers.
So you see, the real killers in Nigeria are not kidnappers, boko haram or armed robbers. The real killers are our leaders. Those who have refused to put in place the facilities needed to maintain an effective health system.
Again, God will not forgive those who will sell their votes for crumps instead of voting in credible leaders in 2019. So also will God not forgive those who deceive people using party lines for their selfish gains.
Rest in peace Tima Numbere.
