Ogun State Police Command have arrested two herdsmen over the alleged kidnap and murder of their kinsman, Taye Amodu.
The suspects Hassan Amodu and Abubakar Abdullah kidnapped
the late Amodu on October 23, 2017 at Obada Oko area of Abeokuta and
also made away with eight cows belonging to the victim.
Spokesman for the Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed
the incident in a statement said upon receiving the report, the
Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, directed that those behind the
dastardly act be brought to book in the shortest possible time.
"The case was taken over by the officer in charge of the
Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and “in compliance with the
CP’s directive, the FSARS operatives swung into action and at about 5:30pm of the same day, the hideout of the culprit was located in Imeko area through technical intelligence" the statement reads.
“The hideout is in a thick forest and was stormed by the
operatives where the two suspects were arrested. Recovered from them
were one pump action gun loaded with four live cartridges and two
cutlasses
“On interrogation, they confessed to have killed the victim
because he was struggling with them while they were taking him away and
the body has been buried in a shallow grave inside the forest. They
equally confessed taking away eight cows of the victim,” he said.
Oyeyemi added that the suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded.
