Former President Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to claims by the
Federal government that his administration had a hand in the recall and
reinstatement of wanted former Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on
Pension Reform, Abdulrasheed Maina. Senior Special Assistant to
President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, released a
statement yesterday in which he alleged that the former president's
loyalist brought in Maina who had been declared wanted over a N2.1
billion fraud committed while he was in office.
Reacting to the comments by Garba, spokesperson to the former
president, Ikechukwu Eze, told Premiumtimes, that it shows how
rudderless and uncoordinated the Buhari-led administration is. According
to Eze, the Buhari-led government officials should stop insulting
Nigerians by making such comments"Are they saying it is President Jonathan that flew him back into Nigeria and promoted him in two levels ahead of where he was as at 2013 when he fled the from civil service? They should stop insulting Nigerians or seeing them as fools,” Mr. Eze said
Maina was dismissed by Ex-president Jonathan in 2013 after the alleged massive fraud he carried out while in office was uncovered. He had since then been on the run and was declared wanted by the EFCC and INTERPOL.
