Young bullfighter dies from internal injuries after he tries to take on 1,100lb beast with his bare hands in Portugal

A young Portuguese bullfighter suffered irreversible internal injuries that led to death when his bare-handed stand-off in front of a 1,100lb beast went horribly wrong.
26-year-old Fernando Quintela, 26, suffered the injuries  in front of a horrified crowd at the bullring in Moita, a district of Lisbon, Portugal.
According to reports, Quintela acted as a 'forcado', one of a group of men who perform a traditional part of bullfights in the country. Their job is to challenge the bull with their bare hands, by standing in front of it and egging the animal on.
They are also requested to make the bull run towards them, before one of the group member will grab its head whilst the others jump on top of it.
The footage below shows the horrific moment, Quintela was gored by the 1,100lb bull during the standoff in the Moita do Ribatejo bullring.
The 26-year-old was first rushed to the bullring's own infirmary before taken to the São José hospital in Lisbon. Surgeons were unable to save him and he died a few hours later.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday for the Portugal bullfighter, who was a member of the Amadores de Alcochete forcado group that made their debut in France in 2008.
