A woman known as Imanyi Clark on Facebook made a post, saying she is
against child support and the post generated controversy online which
has lasted for days...
Imanyi, a single mother, said she is refusing to put her baby's
father on child support because it is the responsibility of the woman to
take care of her child, not the child's father. She went on to say that
as long as the father makes time for his child, it shouldn't matter
whether he provides financially for the upbringing of the child.
After she got attacked online for the post, she went on to explain
that her father never paid child support but he made time for her and
she valued that more than money, while the men who fathered her two
younger brothers both paid child support for their sons but were never
there for them.
A lot of people felt her post will make men shirk their
responsibilities and that it was unfair to expect a woman to carry all
the financial responsibilities for a child when the child has two
parents.
Following the backlash she received for her post, her mother got
involved and supported her daughter. In a video, the mother pretty much
reiterated all her daughter said and revealed that she raised her
children to have an opinion of their own that's contrary to popular
opinion.
