The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be N7.3m ($20,000) richer with every goal they score against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Monday, September 4.
Nigeria will face Cameroon in the
second leg of their double header which started with a 4-0 win for
the Super Eagles on Friday, September 1 in Uyo. Ahead of the game,
the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have confirmed that Akwa Ibom
State born business man Afa Udofia has pledged the sum in a bid to pump up the Super
Eagles ahead of the game.
The NFF said Udofia made the pledge
when he visited the players inside chartered Arik Bombadier CRJ
1000 aircraft before take –off at the Akwa Ibom International Airport,
Uyo. The business man is close friends with NFF President Amaju
Pinnick.
Ahead of the game, Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi shares he's very keen
for the Super Eagles to finish off what they have started.
Nigeria
could become the first African team to qualify for the 2018 FIFA
World Cup if they beat Cameroon in Monday’s game and Zambia fail to
beat Algeria at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Blida on Tuesday.
“We
are just very keen to finish what we started. We started a job in
Uyo and it is time to finish it. If we can pick the World Cup
ticket by Monday, why wait any longer?, Mikel said.
“We are all
very confident, because we know our ability and what we are ready
to bring to the party.”
The 23 players in camp are all fit and
available to play including Chelsea player Ola Aina who just
received FIFA clearance to play for Nigeria after playing for
England youth teams.
