PM Express reports that the 33-year-old Nwana had connived with Okwudili Onyetube, a trader in Oyingbo Market to defraud one Obinna Ezenwata of the money under false pretense.
It
was gathered that Nwana, a native of Anambra State, alongside her
accomplice, was arrested by the operatives of the Federal Criminal
Investigation and intelligent department, FCIID, Alagbon, Ikoyi,
following a petition written against them by the victim.
The two accused were arraigned on a four-count charge of felony to wit, obtaining money under false pretense and stealing.
The police prosecutor, DSP Henry Obiazi, informed the court presided by Chief Magistrate O.A Komolafe,
that the accused persons committed the alleged offence in February
2015, in the Okota area of the state, after they collected the said sum
from the complainant with a promise to exchange it for the Naira
equivalent, but failed to provide the Naira equivalent to the victim,
instead converting the money to their personal use.

Obiazi said that when all efforts by the complainant to retrieve his
money from the accused persons since 2015 proved futile, he reported the
matter to the police leading to the arrest of the accused persons.
When
the charges were read to the accused, they both pleaded not guilty and
Chief Magistrate Komolafe granted them bail in the sum of N3 million
each with two sureties in like sum.
Magistrate
Komolafe, however, ordered that Nwana and Onyetube be remanded in the
Kirikiri and Ikoyi Prisons respectively pending when they will be able
to fulfill their bail conditions, while the case was adjourned until
September 19, 2017, for a mention.
